Today marked the launch of Foreign Foodie’s long-awaited exclusive food experience series! Inspired by last week’s Z-Rou (vegan meat brand) launch event and Pita’s and Tika’s new menu, we partnered with both to host Hangzhou’s first exclusive food tasting—featuring Z-Rou’s innovative vegan meat替代品 (substitute). Spoiler: it exceeded all our expectations!

Appetizers: A Crunchy, Flavorful Start

Guests were first greeted with a fresh chickpea salad paired with crispy mint sauce papad—a perfect opening with a satisfying crunch. The accompanying signature sauces added a spicy kick for those who loved bold flavors, setting the tone for the meal ahead.

Next up: freshly fried vegan samosas, served hot and golden. Alongside them, guests chose between two soups: a medium-spicy tomato soup or a mild lentil soup—both packed with rich, layered flavors that left everyone wanting more.

Main Courses: Z-Rou’s Vegan Meat Steals the Show

The star of the meal was the spread of main dishes—all crafted with Z-Rou’s vegan meat substitute: korma, tikka curry, aloo jeera, black lentil dal, and biryani. We were shocked by how closely the vegan meat mimicked the texture and flavor of real meat—while being healthier and more sustainable.

Each dish was served fresh and hot, with subtle spice variations that catered to different tastes. To soak up every drop of the delicious sauces, soft roti and stuffed naan were served on the side—completing the authentic Indian-inspired feast.

Event Success & What’s Next

The experience was a huge hit! We initially capped the event at 10 people, but due to overwhelming demand, we expanded it to 18—and Pita’s and Tika’s rose to the challenge. Even with the larger group, every dish was served on time, fresh, and hot. We’re incredibly grateful for their smooth execution!

Moving forward, Foreign Foodie plans to bring more exclusive food experiences to Hangzhou—spotlighting new restaurants, limited-edition menus, and special discounts.
