At 38 meters high, Solitary Hill is a cultural relic hotspot with lakeside views. In summer, you can enjoy lotus ponds, visit historical sites, and relax in 13.5 pavilions (including the half-counted Liuyiquan Pavilion). Top picks: Pavilion of the West Lake Heavenly Sight (西湖天下景亭), Fanghe (Crane) Pavilion (放鹤亭), and Fan’gong Pavilion (范公亭).

Bamboo-Lined Path at Yunxi 云栖竹径

On West Lake’s southwest side (north bank of Qiantang River), Yunxi’s bamboo path is far from the city. Summer—with cicada songs and rustling bamboo—is its best season. Tall bamboos line the path, their leaves blocking the sun; a breeze brings coolness, making it feel secluded and peaceful.

Hupao Park 虎跑公园

Shaded by dense trees, Hupao Park is cooler than nearby roads. Walk along Hupao Road to see "three-cun golden lilies" (a small, golden flower resembling water lilies) blooming in the sequoia forest. These flowers bloom from early summer to early autumn—perfect for a cool, scenic stroll.
