More than 20 Fortune Global 500 and leading supply chain companies visited Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province last week, drawn by the city's fast-growing robotics industry and its increasingly complete industrial ecosystem.
The delegation, organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, included global tech giants such as Qualcomm, Intel and Tesla. Over two days, the group conducted intensive visits to seven robotics companies across the city.
Hangzhou's appeal lies in its strong industrial clustering. The city is home to more than 700 robotics-related enterprises, forming a full supply chain that spans core components, complete machine manufacturing, algorithms and real-world applications.
During the visit, 37 leading domestic and international firms, including iFlytek and Baidu, joined nearly 100 local companies for matchmaking talks, generating new collaboration opportunities across the robotics value chain.
Industry observers noted that deeper integration between hardware, software and AI is accelerating, opening up new application scenarios — from industrial inspection to urban infrastructure management.
The visit also served to promote the upcoming China International Supply Chain Expo, where Zhejiang firms are expected to play a prominent role, particularly in the newly added AI section.
As global demand for robotics continues to rise, Hangzhou-based companies are expanding overseas, supported by improving local ecosystems and international cooperation platforms, positioning the city as a key hub in the next wave of intelligent manufacturing.
