The second Sweet Hangzhou Expo and HouDouMen Sweet Life Week was held from Aug 21 to 23 in Hangzhou's Xihu district, combining romance and social activities with cultural tourism consumption.

The event featured an outdoor marriage certificate ceremony marking Qixi Festival, also known as Chinese Valentine's Day, with couples receiving commemorative certificates, creating a memorable experience while highlighting contemporary views on marriage and relationships.

More than 100 professionals from healthcare, education, business, and universities in Xihu also took part in a youth social event, providing opportunities to meet new people and broaden their social circles.

A themed market in Qintian Town featured wedding services, bridal fashion, fragrances, desserts, cultural products, and boutique accommodation, with wedding-themed displays and Qixi promotions encouraging visitors to explore the area's romantic offerings.

The event brought together the districts and counties of Xihu, Shangcheng, Binjiang, Lin'an, Gongshu, Fuyang, and Chun'an, integrating wedding culture, youth activities, and tourism to create new consumption scenarios and add momentum to Hangzhou's cultural tourism sector.

The event also demonstrated how themed festivals can connect local resources with emerging consumer demand, turning romance-related activities into a broader driver for tourism and the local economy.
