About 170 overseas Chinese arrived at Hangzhou International Airport in Xiaoshan district on Jan 27 aboard a flight from Madrid, welcomed by festive decorations and new year greetings that immediately made them feel at home.

To ensure a smooth, wait-free travel experience, the airport coordinated closely with airlines to access passenger data in advance and opened dedicated security and ticketing channels for travelers bound for Qingtian, a county in Zhejiang province known for large numbers of people living overseas.

Shuttle services were dynamically scheduled based on real-time flight arrivals, with extra departures added to enable land-and-go transfers and zero waiting time. Passengers were able to complete their entire journey with a single intermodal ticket.

The arrival area also featured cultural activities such as calligraphy, traditional cultural displays, music performances, and photo zones, while each traveler received a Spring Festival gift pack with local travel and tourism information.

As part of its Air-Road Intermodal Transport program, Hangzhou International Airport has expanded seamless connections to major overseas Chinese hometowns including Qingtian, Lishui, and Wenzhou, serving more than 6,000 returning overseas Chinese during the 2025 Spring Festival travel rush.
