Hangzhou Launches Online Booking for 10 Digital Economy-Themed Tourist Spots

According to the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, TV and Tourism (as reported by ThePaper), an online booking platform for 10 digital economy-themed tourist spots in Hangzhou (Zhejiang Province) was officially put into operation in June. This initiative marks China’s first attempt to normalize tourism access to core digital enterprises and parks, offering a unique way to experience Hangzhou’s leading digital economy.

Key Digital Economy-Themed Tourist Spots:

• Alibaba: Designed 3 exclusive tour routes, covering the Xixi Park Visitor Center, Xinchengli Shopping Mall, real-time data displays of Hema Fresh (Alibaba’s fresh retail brand), and smart hotels—showcasing the full chain of Alibaba’s digital ecosystem.
• Hikvision: Highlights cutting-edge smart security technologies, including AI-enabled surveillance systems and IoT (Internet of Things) applications in daily life.
• Yunqi Town, Turing Town, Robot Town: These digital industrial parks display the latest developments in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and robotics, with interactive exhibits for visitors to experience digital innovation up close.

A key feature of this program is that all 10 spots will normalize their openness to commercial tourists (previously limited to business visits). For now, the online booking platform is exclusively open to group tourists, who can apply for visits via WeChat—simplifying the process of arranging corporate tours, educational trips, or digital-themed travel.
